Alexander Shumilin, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, visited JSC “Raton” in Gomel to discuss prospective areas of development with the management and employees of the company, including the release of new high-tech products that are in demand on foreign markets, within a single day of information. It should be noted that the JSC “Raton” is implementing a project to produce new types of electrical products, such as metal-clad apparatuses in a gas-insulated isolation (MCAGII), metal-clad apparatuses (MCA) and complete transformer substations KTP- 20 kV within the State Program for Innovative Development for 2016-2020. Currently, there are contests on the project for the purchase of equipment.

Promising activities were also discussed during a meeting with the leaders of the Science and Technology Park “Agency for Development and Promotion of Investments”. ‘The Agency should more actively participate in the issues of the innovative development of the region. The Gomel region has a sufficiently developed scientific, technical and industrial potential, so the services such as business planning and marketing research are always in demand,’ Alexander Shumilin says.

The Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology took part in the plenary session of the 15th Gomel Economic Forum during the visit to Gomel. In his speech, he noted that the innovative way of developing the economy of the regions is an objective condition for the competitiveness and the sustainable development of Belarus as a whole. According to him, local authorities and organizations of the Gomel region take an active part in its implementation. In particular, regional organizations with the support of the regional executive committee are implementing six innovative projects in metal processing, construction, production of medical equipment and in the food industry. New projects are prepared to be included in the SPID.
