Belarus and Moldova to hold contest of joint scientific-technical projects

The State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus and the National Agency on Research and Development of the Republic of Moldova will hold a contest of joint scientific-technical projects for 2019-2020 in the following priority areas: new products and technologies, energy, energy efficiency, medicine, biomedicine and biotechnology. Such a decision was taken today in Kishinev during the signing of an  interdepartmental agreement on scientific and technical cooperation. The document was signed by Alexander Shumilin, Chairman of the SCST, and Viorika Boagui, director general of the NARD. Belarus and Moldova are going to develop the cooperation of scientific organizations and assist to scientific teams in key areas of the bilateral scientific-technical and innovation interaction.

‘The signing and implementation of the agreement will enable to hold the contest of joint scientific-technical projects and activate the joint participation of the Belarusian and Moldavian scientists within the Framework Program on Science and Innovation of the European Union  “Horizon 2020”,’ Alexander Shumilin stressed. He also noted that at present four projects of the program of the EU “Horizon 2020” are implemented with the participation of Belarusian and Moldavian scientific organizations.

In recent years, the Belarusian-Moldavian interaction in science and innovation is actively developed. More than 60 joint projects in the field of nanotechnology, biotechnology, physics, biology, medicine, rational use of nature resources, genetics, agriculture sciences, etc. have been implemented since 2010.

The export of hi-tech products to Moldova increased by 36% during the last three years. Its basis is formed by tractors and automobile engineering, as well as medicines and drugs.

Alexander Shumilin, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology is participating in the work of the 19th Session of the Intergovernmental Belarusian-Moldavian Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, which is held in Kishinev on June 6-7.

The agency is charged with the functions of the selection, assessment and financing of the programs and projects within the open national and international contests.
