Belarus and Pakistan to hold contest of joint scientific and technological projects

The State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan will hold a contest of joint scientific and technological projects. The decision was taken at the meeting of the joint Belarusian-Pakistani commission for cooperation in science and technology today. Applications will be accepted in the period from January 4 to March 3, 2019 in the following priority areas of the bilateral Belarusian-Pakistani cooperation: material science and engineering; nanotechnology; microelectronics; agriculture and biotechnology; medicine and pharmacy; renewable energy technology; information and communication technology; standardization, development of the system of test and assessment of the quality; industrial chemical and mineral fossil exploration; functional food and nutritional safety.

The prospects of the development of the bilateral scientific and technical cooperation, the expansion of the cooperation in the areas of the mutual technology transfer and exchange of the scientific and technical information were also discussed during the meeting.

Reference: the Treaty between the Government of Belarus and the Government of Pakistan on the cooperation in science and technology was signed on May 29, 2015. The first session of the joint Belarusian-Pakistani commission for cooperation in science and technology was held in August 10, 2015 in Minsk, the second one was held on September 22-23, 2016 in Islamabad.

According to the results of the holding of contests of the joint Belarusian-Pakistani science and technology projects, currently three joint scientific and technological projects "Application of Low-Temperature Plasma in Organic Farming" (the executor from the Belarusian party is SSI "Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus named after Stepanov", the executor from the Pakistani party is the Institute for information Technology COMSATS); "Electric and Magnetic Properties of Carbon Nanotubes for the Use in Electronics and Spintronics" (the executor from the Belarusian party is the EE "Belarusian State University", the executor from the Pakistani party is National University of Science and Technology of Pakistan NUST); and "Antifriction Silumin as a Substitute for Antifriction Bronze" (the executor from the Belarusian party is the SSI "Institute Metal Technology of NASB ", the executor from the Pakistani party is the Pakistan Council for Scientific and Industrial Research) are being implemented.
