Moscow hosts meeting of Commission on formation of common scientific and technological space of Union State

Belarus and Russia will prepare proposals on the formation of sectoral subcommissions on intellectual property, machine building, medical and pharmaceutical science. This was reported by Alexander Shumilin, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, before the meeting of the Commission on the Formation of a Common Scientific and Technological Space of the Union State, which is being held in Moscow today. According to him, it is also expected to consider proposals to shorten the terms of the development of the Union State programs and to improve the mechanism for selecting projects of programs for inclusion of them in the approximate list of priority scientific, technological and innovative programs and projects of the Union State at the meeting of the commission. Based on the results of the commission's work, it is expected to include the projects on development of critical microelectronic technologies for the creation of an electronic component base for special and dual applications, the creation of modern automated equipment and technologies for processing optical parts of optical-mechanical and optoelectronic devices, the production of super large-scale integrated circuits of special and dual application of the technological level of 90-65 nm, the production of new biomedical cellular products, etc. in the list.

It should be noted that in 2017, Belarusian and Russian scientists carried out eight scientific and technical programs of the Union State, including three new ones (“Spin Systems”, “Development of the Hydro Meteorological Safety System of the Union State”, and “DNA Identification”). At present, more than 50 scientific and technical programs have been implemented (since the formation of the programs of the Union State).

Reference: the Commission for the formation of a single scientific and technological space of the Union State was established in accordance with the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of June 16, 2017, no. 19 “On Main Areas for the Formation of a Common Scientific and Technological Space of the Union State”. It is headed by Alexander Shumilin, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology, from the Belarusian side, and by Grigory Trubnikov, the First Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, from the Russian side. The first meeting of the commission was held in Minsk in November of 2017.
