Tasks of economy growth of primary importance on innovation approaches are topical for all CIS member-states, by Alexander Shumilin

The tasks of the economy growth of primary importance on innovation approaches and the further development of the innovation cooperation are topical for all CIS member-states. This was announced at the opening of the 22nd session on the Interstate Council on Cooperation in Science and Innovation by Alexander Shumilin, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus.

According to him, a big work on the development of the scientific and technical innovation cooperation of the CIS member-states was made after  the previous session of the ICCTI during a short period, including on the implementation of the Interstate Program of the Innovation Cooperation of the CIS member-states up to 2020, pilot interstate innovation projects of the program, the developments of draft documents regulating issues of the implementation of the program and other areas of the activities of the ICCTI. At the same time, Alexander Shumilin stressed that the area of activities of the Interstate Council is not limited only by the Interstate Program of Innovation Development of the CIS member-states. ‘No doubt, the program is one of the main objects of our activities, but the area of interest of the ICCTI is not limited by this. The issues of the interaction of the scientific infrastructure and activities of basic organizations of the CIS are permanently in the agendas of the meetings of the board,’ he said. 

The meeting of Alexander Shumilin, Chairman of the SCST, and Igor Shutenkov, First Vice Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Buryatia, was held within the visit to Ulan-Ude. The issues of the prospects of the development of bilateral relations, including in the field of science, technology and innovation, were discussed during the meeting. 

The session of the Interstate Council on Cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation is held on April 10-18, 2018 in Ulan-Ude (the Republic of Buryatia). The issues of the implementation of the Program and the set of measures for 2017-2020, the implementation of pilot projects, as well a concept of the program for 2021-2030 are included in the agenda of the meeting. 

Reference: the Interstate Council on Cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation was created on November 20, 2009 by the decision of the Board of Heads of Governments of the CIS. The coordination of the scientific-technical and innovation policy on the whole and its components and the formation of financial-economic mechanisms of the support of joint programs and projects in this area are among its functions. The ICCTI is a Supervisory Board of the Interstate Program of Innovation Cooperation of the CIS member-states to the period up to 2020. The basic goals and tasks of the Program are an integration of the intellectual, scientific-technological, production and financial potentials of the CIS member-states.
