Export of high technology products to Joint Institute for Nuclear Research amounted to about 1.5 million USD

In 2018, the total volume of export deliveries to the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) amounted to almost 2 million USD. Over 1.5 million USD of them are the export of science-intensive and high-tech products.

This was announced at the meeting of the Coordinating Council for Cooperation with JINR by Alexander Shumilin, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, today. According to him, Belarus is involved in the development and supply of electronics, the creation of mechanical structures, high-precision processing of the components of the magnetic subsystem of the NICA project, as well as in the development of the physical program of the experiment at the nuclotron, which is under construction. The largest deliveries under the completed contracts with JINR include the works implemented by industrial and scientific organizations of Belarus commissioned by the JINR for NICA mega-science project:

  • batches of integrated circuits based on MOS technology with design standards of 0.18 µm for reading electronics of the time-projection camera have been developed and delivered for the MPD installation of the NICA accelerator complex. Serial samples of modules for peripheral power supplies and slow control LVN9 were developed under the program for creating a low-voltage TPC system of MPD installation, and its mass production was prepared. A batch of readout camera cases was manufactured and delivered.

  • the main batch was manufactured, the acceptance and delivery tests were carried out and the batch of LVDB5 peripheral power supply electronic modules was delivered for the muon detector CMS (CERN, Switzerland). The production of serial constructive components for the RBX and RM readout modules, which are part of the electronics of the reading of the end part of the hadron calorimeter of the CMS project (CERN, Switzerland), was completed and delivered to CERN.
  • a technique for measuring the quality factor that enables to monitor electromagnetic properties of a resonator at various stages of assembly has been developed as part of the research and development project for the development, manufacture and testing-of the injector of the NUCLOTRON-NICA complex, superconducting resonators for a linear accelerator of protons and ions.

It should also be noted that Belarusian scientists and engineers take an active part in the work at the JINR basic facilities, such as the IBR-2 fast pulse reactor, the IREN neutron diffraction facility, the U-400 and U-400M accelerator complexes, which enable both fundamental and applied research in the interests of our country. The opening of the experimental building of the superheavy components factory and the launch of its basic plant, a DC-280 cyclotron, is also a significant event.
