In the space of five years, Belarus and Serbia implemented 23 joint scientific and technical projects

From 2014 to 2019, Belarusian and Serbian scientists implemented 23 scientific and technical projects, including projects in agricultural, biological, physical and mathematical, chemical sciences and information technologies. That was announced today by Alexander Shumilin, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus at a meeting with the Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia Mladen Sharchevich. According to him, 19 project applications (following the results of the competition of joint Belarusian-Serbian scientific and technical projects for 2020–2021) have been prepared in agriculture and food, energy, nanomaterials, ecology and environmental protection, and optoelectronics for further financing at present. “The state expert assessment on Belarusian side has been carried out – all projects have been approved. Therefore, depending on the results of the upcoming meeting of the joint Belarusian-Serbian commission on scientific and technical cooperation, we may be able to sign the final protocol, the executive cooperation program for 2020–2021, and the list of joint scientific and technical projects approved for financing,” said Alexander Shumilin.

Belarusian-Serbian cooperation in the scientific, technical and innovative areas is developing under the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Federal Government of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia on scientific and technical cooperation of March 6, 1996. The implementation of the provisions of this document allows the Belarusian and Serbian parties to conduct bilateral cooperation activities on a regular basis through the work of the joint Belarusian-Serbian commission on scientific and technical cooperation.
