SCST took part in the 6th Forum of the Regions of Russia and Belarus in St. Petersburg

This year, the key topic of the Forum was interregional relations as the basis for the formation of a common cultural and humanitarian space for the peoples of Belarus and Russia, as well as strategic priorities for the development of the Union State, the most important of which is the formation of a single scientific and technical space. An updated Agreement on Cooperation and Interaction in the Innovation Sphere between the State Committee on Science and Technology and the Skolkovo Foundation was signed in order to unite and develop the scientific and technical potentials of the member states. That was announced by the Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Shumilin. According to him, the Agreement provides opportunities for the Belarusian side to use the services of expertise, information support, market promotion, search for partners for placing orders, search for consumers in commercialization projects among Skolkovo industrial parks, and also mutual study of work experience and legal forms activities.

Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology also met with the First Deputy Governor of Kaluga Region Dmitry Denisov. A number of projects for the construction of residential complexes and social facilities were implemented as part of the development of cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Kaluga Region. The enterprise BELTREYD LLC was opened in order to develop trade and economic relations by selling Belarusian products in the format of a “trading house”. There is an active interaction in strengthening cultural ties, developing cooperation between educational institutions and scientific organizations.

Following the meeting, it was decided to hold the fourth meeting of the Working Group on Cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Kaluga Region of the Russian Federation in the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2019 in the Kaluga Region to discuss the possibilities of implementing joint projects and developing cooperation between the twin cities as a platform for further economic development.
