Alexander Shumilin met with "Belwest" staff

The Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Shumilin, held a meeting the management and staff of Belwest, were he discussed promising directions of development, as well as issues of producing high-quality products for domestic and foreign markets. Within the State Program for Innovative Development for 2016-2020, the company is implementing a project to develop and master new technologies in the production of footwear (leather goods checking for defects, cutting, roughing, spreading, gluing and others) with the introduction of robotic production methods. The software and hardware complex will significantly improve the quality of leather assessment and help to analyze not only external, but internal defects.

“The innovativeness of the complex lies in the use of robotic technologies with unique equipment of working bodies, machine vision and ultrasonic cutting technologies, self-learning automated control systems. The implementation of this project will increase the technological level of the enterprise, strengthen its position in the existing segments of the footwear market, expand the geography of exports, significantly reduce production costs, improve the quality and competitiveness of domestic products,” said Alexander Shumilin. He also noted that the robotization of production will not reduce the company's staff, since the overall increase in volume will require more workers.

During his visit to the Viciebsk region, the Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology Alexander Shumilin visited the Talochyn cannery, where a quick freezing shop is being built. The innovativeness of the project lies in the production of quick-frozen french fries potato products, which will contribute to the further development of the import-substituting quick-frozen food products. Currently, the enterprise is working on the installation of a line for the production of French fries, its shock freezing, packaging and further storage of finished products.
