Nowadays, it is important to encourage scientists and inventors to make use of intellectual property rights and the results of their work for their own benefit and the economic prosperity of the country. This was announced at the opening of the regional seminar “Intellectual Property in the Modern World: New Challenges” by the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus Syarhei Shcharbakow. According to him, this is a global trend, which is actively supported by the Republic of Belarus.

“The intellectual property system is an essential element in supporting scientific and innovative activities in the country. This system is stable and efficient, while constantly being improved. However, being fully adapted to the national realities of the economy functioning, it also includes the desire to follow standards and current trends at the global level,” Syarhei Shcharbakow emphasized.

The regional seminar “Intellectual Property in the Modern World: New Challenges” is being held from February 25 to 26, 2020 in Minsk. WIPO representatives, experts from Belarus, Poland, Kazakhstan, Russia and Slovenia participate in its work. The purpose of the seminar is to discuss education and training issues in the field of intellectual property; practices of valuation and accounting of intellectual property in the Republic of Belarus, as well as issues of protecting intellectual property rights and data security in the context of global digitalization. The event was organized by the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, the National Center for Intellectual Property, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and the BelBrand Intellectual Property Protection Association.
