Breakthrough scientific projects to become easier to implement in Belarus

New rules for implementation of scientific and technical projects were approved in Belarus eliminating mandatory patent research. What becomes important is whether the development could be profitably sold in the future.

The most worthy ideas will be chosen by experts. Another innovation is a release from liability. When it turns out that the project can not be completed, scientists still have no obligation to return the funds invested in the project. But only if there are good reasons.

Alexander Shumilin, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus: “If you took up the development and did not achieve the planned result, but there were objective reasons. Not because you couldn't manage it or did poor work, but the situation on the market changed, legislation came out, that is, in case of force majeure, you will be exempt from returning the money.”

This year almost 30 scientific and technical programs are being worked on in Belarus. Among the largest projects are reagents for diagnosing infectious diseases, a station for charging electric vehicles, microchips for radio equipment, and even a new potato variety.
